Digital signature is the electronic version of author signature that authenticates the identity of the author of document sent electronically. Digital signatures are required to ensure that the document sent has not undergone any modification. One can obtain it from the certifying authority. A digital certificate is issued to the person. People usually do not trust technology and it is only because they fail to understand it clearly. However, in case of digital signature it would be wrong to call it technology. In the current technical era, it is necessary that businesses should have tools like digital signature which provide security.
Not only this, they also make the user aware that the person with whom one is dealing over the internet is trustworthy and possesses the same identity one is claiming to be. It, therefore gives confidentiality and authentication. Integrity is another benefit it provides. One can easily confirm that the information received has not been modified on the route. The document that is being signed with digital signature remains non-repudiated or cannot be denied. The technology which is responsible for this is known as public key infrastructure (PKI). Most people often confuse digital and electronic signatures. Electronic signature is the scanned copy of written signature and digital signature is to digitally sign a document. Thus, digital signature ensures high security and authentication of the user’s identity.
